Maureen Dwyer

Maureen Lee (Harju) Dwyer of Freesoil, Michigan received her first concertina at the age of five. In one afternoon, her grandfather showed gave her a lesson and she learned two songs, Yankee Waltz and Sweet Bunch of Daisies. She has always had a knack to quickly learn new songs.

In the early 1970s she started performing with her father and brother at picnics, weddings, and anniversary parties. She joined the Northwest Concertina Club and played with them in the 1970s while also playing with the Billy Boo and the Variety Crew.

Maureen has attended many music festivals, and Finnish and Scandinavian events throughout the Midwest, promoting the concertina and its music.
