John Whalley
Hall of Fame – 1988
John Lowell Whalley (1910-1988) was born in Michigan but lived in Racine, Wisconsin. John was a true concertina enthusiast; he attended all concertina functions near and far, never having missed an event of the World Concertina Congress. John always spoke of the concertina in reverence.
He devoted all of his retirement years to the repair and update of this musical machine.
John became adept at writing and transposing music for the concertina.
He did not play publicly. Unfortunately, he passed away before receiving this honor.
