George Karpek

George Karpek (1918-1988) Milwaukee, WIisconsin, owner of the Karpek Accordion manufacturing company which he took over from his father Andrew in the 1960s. Through George’s efforts, hundreds of concertina beginners had the opportunity to purchase suitable instruments for learning. There is a long list of Karpek’s students who became professional misicians and teachers.

The Karpek Supreme and Pearl Queen concertinas he built were noted as popular and affordable yet had high quality.

George invented and built the Karousel Concertina, which was a slim-lined version of the concertina.

George passed away at the age of 70 in 1988. The company closed in 1991.
