Elmer Stillman
Hall of Fame – 1989
Elmer Stillman (1924-1998) from Rockford, Illinois is a concertina musician, bandleader, and arranger of concertina music. If you are a concertina player and don’t recognize Elmer, then certainly you will recognize his concertina music arrangements.
Mr. Stillman literally wrote over two thousand arrangements for the concertina. Elmer’s printed page is legible and definitely uncomplicated so the average concertina player can read them with assuredness.
His hand-printing of the notes and numbers have become meticulous to the extent that you would think his arrangements were done on a music-type writer. If he averaged just one hour on each song, which alone would be over two thousand hours devoted to the betterment of concertina music.
