Edward A. Hermann
Hall of Fame – 1978
Edward A. Hermann (1890-1991) was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1890. Besides entertaining segments of the public with concertina music, Ed spent many years in the business of building and improving the concertina. Notable among his many innovations and improvements was the replacement of metal staves, corners, and bands with pliable and durable plastic. This allowed the concertina to be highly ornamented in a variety of colors. He also perfected the condensed keyboard which made the instrument easier to play.
