Buddy Glysz

Gerard (Buddy) Glysz (1927-2012) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin started his musical career on the accordion at the age of seven. He was born into a musical family and lived across the street from the Polonia Music House owned by Eddie Teikowski. Buddy learned to play the drums because Eddie told him that he already had many ‘box players.

Buddy’s first love was the accordion, but he continued on drums and played with every concertina player that came into the store: Max Gajewski, Max King, Erv Taczala, Erv Kwass, Milton Gruenwald, Eddie Burak, Concertina Millie, Len Behn, and a host of other concertina players from across the Midwest. He was the leader of “Buddy’s Buddies” for many years.
