Ervin Behrend

Ervin (Erv) L. Behrend (1917-2002) from Coleman, Wisconsin started playing the concertina at eight years old. He was taught by his brother and started playing in his family band “The Grasshoppers.” They played school programs and barn dances. At 15, he started playing in taverns and for weddings. After returning from the service, Erv formed “The Behrend Brothers Band.” They played for 40 years.
Erv taught several family members to play the concertina and helped anyone who wanted to learn.
